Instant map poster

Best for one place

A fast, lower-cost gift when the location itself is the point: a hometown, venue, first apartment, or favorite city.

Wedding direction map

Best for guests

A practical illustrated map for invitations, welcome bags, or venue wayfinding before the wedding day.

Marigold story print

Best for the trip you lived

A founder-led commission that turns your honeymoon route, photos, and tiny remembered details into a finished piece for your home.

Why the name

Not a map of where you went. A map of what stayed.

Marigold Cartography treats a honeymoon like emotional geography: the route matters, but so do the private landmarks — the table where you lingered, the road you almost missed, the small detail only the two of you would recognize.

Marigold

The warmth you bring home: gold light, celebration, memory, and the feeling of something lovingly kept.

Cartography

The craft of locating meaning. Not just countries and roads, but the places your love became visible.

Together

A composed print that charts the honeymoon as you lived it — route, photos, words, symbols, and the little truths that make it yours.

How it works

Every piece starts with a conversation.

Here's what that looks like.

A flat-lay of the design process: a consultation notebook, the couple's honeymoon photos, a map sketch, an iPad showing the digital composition, and a row of paint-palette swatches
  1. Tell us your story

Fill out a short intake form about your trip — the route, the photos, the story you keep retelling, the moment that made it real. This isn't a logistics checklist. It's the foundation of your design.

  2. We talk

A short video call with the founder. You'll describe the trip in your own words. We'll talk about what you want to see on the wall and what the piece should feel like to look at ten years from now.

  3. Your design takes shape

Using your photos, your route, and the details from our conversation, we design a fully custom composition — not a map with your names dropped into a fixed outline. You'll see your first full concept within about a week of the call — never weeks of silence — and we refine from there.

  4. Printed and delivered

Once you approve the final design, it's printed on archival fine art paper and shipped to your door in a rigid protective tube with a personal note.

A gift that keeps the trip

The first anniversary is paper.

Tradition gives the first year paper — and there's no more lasting version of it than the honeymoon, mapped. A Marigold commission is a quiet, unforgettable gift: from one partner to the other, or from the people who watched them fall in love.

For your partner

The paper anniversary, the homecoming surprise, or “I had this made for us.” We can hold the design quietly until the date you choose.

As a wedding gift

Parents, family, and friends commission Marigold pieces for the couple. We send a gift certificate with a personal note, and the couple completes their intake whenever they're ready.

No deadline pressure

Reserve a commission before the honeymoon even happens. There's no payment until after the consultation — so a gift can be given long before the design begins.

Giving it for a date?

First anniversary, the holidays, a birthday, a homecoming — reach out at least six weeks ahead and we'll make sure there's time to design, revise, and ship. Cutting it close? Say so and we'll tell you honestly what's possible — or send a gift certificate so the gift is ready now and the design begins whenever they are.

Frequently asked

A few things couples ask.

How is this different from the custom maps I see on Etsy?

Most map shops sell a template — the same outline, your names and coordinates dropped in. Every Marigold piece is composed as emotional geography: route, photos, illustrated details, color palette, layout, and the private landmarks that made the trip yours. There's a real video conversation with the founder before any design begins. That's the whole point.

When should we order — before or after the honeymoon?

After. The design works best with the photos and stories from your actual trip. That said, many couples reserve a slot ahead of time as a self-gift or a present from a parent — pay only after the consultation.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Yes — shipping is available worldwide. International rates and timing are quoted with your order. Domestic US shipping is included in every tier.

What if our trip wasn't a "destination" honeymoon?

Even better. The most meaningful pieces aren't always Santorini — they're the cabin in the Catskills, the cross-country drive, the unfussy three-day stay somewhere the two of you needed to be. The design responds to what mattered to you, not to a postcard.

How long does the whole thing take?

From submitted intake to final print: about 3–5 weeks depending on the tier. You'll see your first full design concept within about a week of the call, then we refine from there. After you approve, Signature ships in 14 business days, Heirloom in 21, and Bespoke in 30. If you have an anniversary deadline, mention it in the intake — we'll plan around it.

Can you have it ready by a specific date?

Often, yes — but tell us early. For a first anniversary, the holidays, or a birthday, reach out at least six weeks ahead so there's time to talk, design, revise, and ship. If the date is tight, mention it and we'll tell you honestly what's possible — or send a gift certificate so the gift arrives on time while the couple completes their design afterward.

When do we pay?

Not today. The first step is a free consultation so we can understand the trip and confirm the right tier. If you decide to move forward, a 50% deposit starts the design work and the remaining balance is due before printing.

What if we don't love the proof?

Every tier includes revision rounds — one for Signature, two for Heirloom, three for Bespoke. The proof stage is exactly when we adjust. Nothing is printed until you approve it.

Can we send our own photos? How many?

Yes — your photos are the foundation of the design. Signature uses 2–3, Heirloom 4–6, Bespoke unlimited. You can upload up to 3 favorites in the intake; after the call, we'll ask for the full set in a private Google Drive folder. Phone photos are completely fine.

What happens after we submit the inquiry?

You'll see the booking link right away after the form sends, and we'll also reply within one business day. The call is the first creative step: we talk through your route, timing, gift needs, photos, and which tier makes sense.

Is this a good gift for someone else's honeymoon?

A wonderful one — first anniversary, wedding gift, or parents gifting a child. We'll send a gift certificate with a personal note, and the couple completes the intake at their pace.

Ready to start?

Begin with a conversation.

It takes about a minute. Tell us who you are and where you went — then we'll send a link to book your consultation. The deeper questions about your trip come after the call, once we're designing together.

There's no payment yet. Just a quick note, then a conversation.

  • 15–30 minutesA relaxed video or phone call with the studio
  • No pressureNo payment until after we've talked it through
  • Just the beginningThe deep creative questions come later, together
